Six months. And already my heart starts to beat faster just thinking about it! I was running (very slowly) up Halswell Quarry on my lunch break the other day when I decided it would be a good idea to record my journey to my first Speights Coast to Coast. So here it is.
Over these next few months I plan to write down my experiences (I’m sure both good and bad!) on my journey to Sumner beach and that elusive can of Speights. I also hope to add insight to other like-minded beginners doing the Speights Coast to Coast, or just multisport races in general. And if you don’t have anything planned, maybe you might be inspired to enter something too. I have found there is a lot of information out there, but not so much for the beginner athlete. I plan to help answer simple questions I feel stupid asking like ‘What shorts do I wear? What’s the best waterproof jacket? What shoes do I buy?!!’ It won’t all be about me though, as I will review products, record the environment I train in and share insight to people who help me along the way (there are so many already who have happily given me so much of their knowledge).
And lastly, I hope to combine this with my love photography. With my training starting to take shape I am travelling to some beautiful parts of my country, so as much as this blog will be about my experiences, I wish to share these places visually with you too.
I hope you enjoy this journey with me, questions, comments, and ‘positive’ feedback are all welcome!
